How Have I Been Socialized: Mini Project
- Follow the directions on the mini project handout for your particular activity.
- Some of you (actually just like 2-3 of you) chose to not use your class time wisely on Friday. Make up for that today by doing good, quality work--the rest of you keep it up!
- Your work is due tomorrow at the start of class. You should be proud of what you are turning in.
- This grade will be worth 20 points total. It will be a quiz grade, and it will be your last grade in the book before SLCs.
Debate People:
- Spend the first hour of class preparing for the debate.
- Feel free to use evidence from your own life and experiences. Once you've prepared this, then you may use outside research.

- Resolution: Gender is the most important way that we are socialized.
- Format: Each team can have all members on the floor for each section. This should take roughly 35 minutes.
Affirmative Constructive: Affirmative team states their prepared case. (5 minutes)
Cross Examine: Negative team asks clarifying questions about the Affirmative team's case. (2 minutes)
Negative Constructive: Negative team states their prepared case. (5 minutes)

1st Affirmative Rebuttal: The affirmative team responds to the negative team's case. The goal is to go point by point and prove that your case is stronger. (4 minutes)

Negative Rebuttal: Now, it's the negative team's turn. ( 7 minutes)

2nd Affirmative Rebuttal: The affirmative team has one last chance to prove their case is stronger. Also, this time can be used to summarize the round for the judge (make believe or real) and tell him/her why you should vote for their team. (3 minutes)
Post Debate Reflection
In a paragraph, answer the following questions in complete sentences. You will turn this in tomorrow. You can type or write this by hand. - Which side were you on?
- How did your team do? Was it hard to debate your side? Why or why not?
- What did you learn about your personal socialization in this process?
