Do it. c. Each member edits their copy with rigor. Everyone should do this, not just one person. Use these criteria for editing, and any others you think are relevant -Are you being specific enough in each section to overcome the skepticism of our investors? -Do you paragraphs flow in a way that is logical and makes sense? -Are you producing writing that is professional; what judgements would a a bank professional make about the quality of your writing? d. Make revisions on computer draft document as necessary 2) Send refined version to Stephen's email when done AND print out a copy for the Gallery Walk tomorrow. Starter 30 1) Take a few minutes and think about a time when you made a really bad mistake. Write down what happened: what was the mistake, why did you make it, how did you feel, what could you have done differently? Reflect a bit more and write down what you learned from making the mistake--maybe about what you were trying to accomplish or about yourself.

Project Work Time Preliminary Business Proposal Requirements Formatting: See "Formatting Papers" Title: (Company Name) Business Proposal Content: 1 normal paragraph the includes the mission statement of the group and explains the importance of this vision for the world. 1 TEA paragraph that identifies the problem, uses cited evidence/data to back up the claim, and analysis of the data/claim. 1 TEA paragraph that identifies the solution you are proposing, uses cited evidence/data to back up the claim, and analysis of the data/claim. Bonus: 1 TEA paragraph that describes the model for your solution. Today's Goals: 1) Make sure you are all caught up as a group--there have been some absences. If you are in a group with someone who has been absent, please slow down and take the time to catch them up a) Review Jigsaw Notes in depth. b) Explain "Problem, Solutions, Root Cause" sheet in depth. 2) If you did not get a chance to finish your work from yesterday, please carry on. Be sure to take time to complete the reflection piece at the bottom of the "Problems, Solutions, Root Cause" worksheet. **If you are unsure of what Root Cause Analysis is and why its crucial to the success of your project, please carefully consume this slideshow 3) Complete this worksheet on a computer as a more finalized and polished Root Cause Analysis. Print one copy for your group's portfolio. Please complete all 5 rounds of asking why and be as specific and detailed as you possibly can. This sheet will lay the groundwork for your Preliminary Business Plan. You might need to take time to brainstorm the intervention needed. Be nice to each other, be creative, develop your rough draft idea for your solution!! If you need more to do today... 4) Complete a refined and polished group mission statement. Don't print; just keep it in a safe place. 5) Begin compiling an outline of your preliminary business plan. Use the information on the whiteboard to develop this outline. For each section besides the Mission Statement, answer the questions in TEA paragraphs (What is the problem? What is the solution? etc. We will take Thursday and an hour on Friday to dial these in, so use this as a "Down Draft." If you finish these things, have a quiet study hall. Make me proud! Q/A
Question: What do I do if I'm absent during this project? Answer: Make sure you have a plan with your group. I recommend keeping all files and work in the classroom. You should probably also exchange numbers so you can contact one another. It's not acceptable to be absent for more than one day and not contact your group directly. Project Work Time Today's Checklist of Goals: 1) Identify and list the problem themes. 2) Identify and list solutions already in place surrounding your topic area and their basic strategies. 3) Map Problem Themes and Solution Strategies. Finish Jigsaw Protocol and Debrief the Protocol See yesterday's Debrief prompts. Problems, Solutions, Root Cause Your main task for today is to hone in on the main problem that you would like to address with your project. You will do this by listing a number of problems, a number of solutions, identifying the themes and strategies behind these problems/solutions, and then finally trying to examine the root cause of one particular problem. 1) Complete this worksheet with your group. 2) Use this worksheet as an aide, a guide, to help you complete the previous worksheet (Problems, Solutions, Root Cause.) Also, use this worksheet to complete your Mapping exercise. 3) Take your time; be thorough. This is not a race. Your goal for today is to make sure that you at least identify the Problem Theme that you would like to perform the Root Cause Analysis on. You are ahead of the game if you complete your first round of Root Cause Analysis. |
