Seminar You know how we do it! Ahhh yeaaa Seminar Questions: 1) What is Kagan's strongest argument for banning group grades? Why? 2) What is positive interdependence/collaboration and how can teachers measure a student's growth in this? 3) Why does Kagan believe that learning, not grades, will be the reward in the 21st century? 4) What is a skill that you can learn from the collaboration process? Why is it this important? 5) Are group grades fair? 6) What should be the function of grades? 7) How should we use the understanding we gained in seminar to grade our project? Seminar Make Up If you were ABSENT...choose two of the seminar questions listed above. Write two TEA paragraphs per question (total of 4 paragraphs), following TEA Paragraph and my formatting guidelines. Email it to me with the subject "Seminar Make Up" Seminar Reflection General guidelines The seminar reflection should be somewhere between 1 and 2 single-spaced pages. Answer the following questions with TEA paragraphs, referring to text and to the ideas discussed in the seminar. This must be properly formatted (see resources section of my DP) and you will email it to me before the start of class Friday. Here's the rubric I'll use! Paragraph 1: Reactions 1. Choose one or two specific comments or ideas that were mentioned in the seminar. 2. Explain what those comments or ideas meant. 3. Talk about your reaction to the comment/idea you chose. What did it make you think about? How did it change, add to, or deepen your perspective? Paragraph 2: Detailed Response 1. Choose one of the major questions from the seminar to write about (if you are also doing the seminar make up, choose a different question from the ones on that list). 2. Major questions are posted on my DP. 3. Write at least one solid paragraph in response to the question. You may write more if you feel like you need more space to adequately answer the question. 4. You should definitely be quoting the text, and setting up your quotes correctly! You will not receive full credit for this paragraph if you do not quote the text! Paragraph 3: Connections In one paragraph, identify and explain a connection between the seminar text/ideas to one of the following: 1. Other topics and texts you’ve studied (this year or in the past) 2. News article or current event 3. Historical event or figure 4. Movie, tv show, or song 5. Work of art 6. Personal experience you’ve had 7. Other?
